Scott is a native Texan who resides in Burleson, Texas. He joined the Alliance family in 2017 as a Licensed Prosthetic Assistant, which he received in 2015. Scott is currently working towards his assistant license in orthotics as well. Scott’s journey to the field of O&P field came to be when he was diagnosed with osteosarcoma at the age of 14. The cancer resulted in Scott losing his right leg above the knee. Since losing his leg to cancer, Scott has founded a non-profit, ABI, which hosts charity benefit basketball games to help kids and their families going through cancer. In 2014, Scott became the first above knee amputee to play in a professional basketball game in the PBL league in Michigan. He has been featured in numerous articles and news outlets such as ESPN Sportscenter Top Ten Plays, LA Times, SLAM Magazine, and the cover of XXL basketball magazine in Taiwan. He has been awarded Fox 4’s Hometown Hero, CBS 11 Texan with Character, KRLD Community Hero, and Cook Children’s Hospital’s 2015 Aflac Duckprint Award for leaving his footprint on the fight against childhood cancer. Every summer, Scott volunteers at Camp Sanguinity which is a camp for kids with cancer and blood disorders. Scott has worked in the medical field since age 18 as a physical therapy tech for 7 years, a wound care tech for 4 years, a patient model and patient consultant for a prosthetic manufacturer for 3 years, and now as a licensed prosthetic assistant for the past 4 years. Scott chose the medical field because he feels given his experience with cancer and being an amputee, he can relate to patients and give them some hope with what they are going through. His latest project is a children’s book he has written about his story and his relationship with Christ titled “Me and JC” which is set to be released later in 2018. All the proceeds from the book with go to kids with cancer and their families. Scott lives with his wife, Vanessa, and their two dogs, Daisy & Allie.
